Legendary craftsman (and wizardly jig-maker) Michael Fortune says that if he had room in his shop for only one woodworking machine, it would definitely be a bandsaw. In this webinar, he’ll show you why.

“When combined with a variety of simple shopmade jigs and fixtures,” Fortune says, “the bandsaw can be extraordinarily versatile, accurate, and safe.” He’ll share his methods for simplifying a wide range of cuts on the bandsaw: supporting oversize and curved work so it can be sawn accurately; cutting perfectly repeatable tapers, whether in table legs or tiny tenon wedges; squaring up and resawing rough billets of firewood to yield decorative veneers; cutting circles and arcs; and cutting cylindrical workpieces.

What a pleasure to watch!!! By far the best of these webinars that you guys have presented. Like everything that Michael does, the attention to detail is great. Taking the time and the trouble to shoot the instructional videos ahead of time is so helpful. Great lighting, well placed camera, and planned instruction. All the things that your usual 'off the cuff' videos lack. Michael even took the effort to hang the white seamless paper, so we can see him and the bandsaw better.

It is so frustrating when the conversation drones on, or the lighting and focus is so bad that I can't see what the presenter is talking about. That is why I only watch these as replays, so I can fast forward thru the worst parts. This time I watched the whole thing.

Please keep doing these with Michael, but also please take note and do this kind of format with more of your presenters.

Excellent webinar as always! Michael’s insight into developing functional jigs without complicated “builds” is second to none. Would love to have another webinar on bandsaw set up/tune up/trouble shooting with Michael.

I don't care what he talks about. If it's woodworking related, it's worth listening to.

The knowledge and confidence gained from watching this video is incredibly valuable. Thank you Michael and Ben, and everyone else involved in putting this together. It inspires me to expand my own furniture making projects beyond what I thought possible. I really appreciate the emphasis on safety as well and will incorporate most of the jigs featured to not only improve cut quality and efficiency but also eliminate the risk while using the bandsaw.

Also, I can't seem to locate a Starrett Bandsaw Blade, 115", 1/2", 3 TPI, Skip tooth, carbide steel.

You might need to find someone to cut a custom size. There are a lot of suppliers out there who do it.

Michael is outstanding. Ben did a great job hosting. Making sure all the topics were presented. Interesting to find his blade of choice to be a 3tpi, skip tooth.
